The City of El Dorado is moving forward with a plan to develop a comprehensive Greenway Trail System.
In a unanimous decision, the El Dorado City Council approved a recommendation from the El Dorado Works Board to partner with Crafton Tull, a consulting firm based in Little Rock, to apply for a $25 million RAISE grant to fund the project.
The Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant, a 100% federally funded initiative for qualifying communities through the U.S. Department of Transportation, requires no matching funds from the city. Since its inception, the RAISE program has awarded more than $7.8 billion to 550 infrastructure projects nationwide.
The proposal to seek the RAISE grant was initially presented to the El Dorado Works Board by Mayor Paul Choate on August 6, 2024. “Crafton Tull has extensive experience working with both the City of El Dorado and the Arkansas Department of Transportation,” Mayor Choate said. “They are familiar with the opportunities presented by a greenway project and have successfully assisted other Arkansas communities to secure RAISE grants.”
